A month ago, the Year 11s, along with some families from the primary section, went on the Po Leung Kuk Charity Walk 2015 with the theme of “Green and Healthy Lifestyle”. The charity walk is a very meaningful event as it raises funds for further strengthening Po Leung Kuk’s multi-faceted services; with all proceeds donated towards the support and use of 270 PLK service units in Hong Kong. This well-known event not only reminds people to be more eco-friendly and to treat the environment with care, but also raises awareness for the servicing unit of PLK, one of the largest charity organizations in Hong Kong.
We realized through the funding process how people are very willing to offer a helping hand to those in need. With thousands of people joining the event, we are sure that this walk has been effective in reaching out to different sponsors from all around Hong Kong.
The walk was estimated to take around one and a half hour. We started walking from the Shatin Race court, along Shing Mun River and finished at Shatin Park, where a flea market with handicrafts of local distinctive features is located. These handicrafts were not only delicate, but also helped further the charity cause.
