Event Highlights:

Lunchtime Recital at Café on the Hill - Angus Lau  10E

The music department has recently developed a program that provides more opportunities for students to perform - lunchtime recitals at Cafe on the Hill . This not only helps build students’ confidence, but also gives them opportunities to share their love for music with everyone at school.Be sure to tune in every week A at lunch time on Thursdays. The recital is held near Café on the Hill. Come and give your support our students and enjoy music while having your lunch.

Lunchtime Recital at Café on the Hill - Jeffrey Leung 11B

The lunchtime recital is  something new to us as we have never had it before. It was an honor and an invaluable experience for me to perform in front of so many people during lunchtime. My form tutor, Ms. Leung Wai, came to support both me and Gareth. I was overwhelmed by the support I received, and because of this, I have finally overcome my fear of performing in public.

There were MCs introducing the performers, which made the recital very formal and professional, giving us a sense of what a real performance feels like. There will be other performances at the end of the school year. I feel that there is always going to be room for improvement. Passion and enthusiasm is something that I feel we all should better demonstrate.

The upcoming Christmas concert has caught my attention. It is Christmas! It is going to be phenomenal, and it will definitely be better than the lunch time recital. Hopefully, everyone will come and enjoy the performances.

We have to say a big “Thank You” to you, the audience, for giving us the support we all hoped we would receive, and for the experience of performing in public. We hope you all enjoyed our performances!

Mr. Trey Lee’s Visit - Bevis Ng 11A

We are very lucky to have Mr. Trey Lee, world renowned cellist,  as our music consultant. Mr. Lee came again to our school last month. He watched the Orchestra performance and complemented the progress that the students have made. We are very thankful for his feedback and constructive advice.

Mr. Trey Lee also invited another world renowned viola player, Mr. Born Lau, to perform the ‘Eyeglasses Duo’ in our assembly. The ‘Eyeglasses Duo’ is a duet piece composed by Ludwig Beethoven.  The piece was written for Beethoven’s friend and cello player Baron Nikolaus Zmeskall von Domanovecz to play, during which Beethoven played the viola part himself. It was a truly breathtaking experience to be an audience for such a wonderful performance.

Po Leung Kuk Joint School Graduation Ceremony Performance - Gareth Tong 11B

Our school was very privileged to have the opportunity to perform, among other Po Leung Kuk schools, at the annual Po Leung Kuk Joint Secondary Schools Speech Day.  In addition to thousands of students and teachers, there were also a number of honorable guests. Our orchestra played with their hearts, demonstrating passion in every single note of the piece. When we finished playing, the room thundered with applause while students gave us a standing ovation. The countless hours of practice were all worth it.

Hong Kong Percussion Contest 2015 - Ryan Ip 10C

Recently our school won first place in the Hong Kong Percussion Contest 2015. It was a new experience as I have never participated in this competition before. The contest started with a rush. We had to rush onto the stage because we had only 7 minutes to set up our instruments and perform. Despite the  circumstances, we performed flawlessly just as practiced and won first place in the “Western Percussion Group”. The main difficulty was the setup since we had a lot of different heavy instruments and we needed to finish setting up within a short time.

I am looking forward to next year’s percussion contest, and hopefully next year we will do just as well.
