Robotics Club

Alvin Lau (12B)

The Robotics Club is a club that focuses on teamwork, innovation and exploration. Nowadays, robotic technology has been advancing at an unbelievable rate. Through the use of educational purposed robotic sets, we aim to help our members to discover the robotic world, learn to cooperate with others, and most importantly, enjoy both the process and the results.

What has the Club been up to?

By examining the Lego Mindstorm EV3 robotics set, our members explore the mechanics of robotics with their own hands. With the space challenge mission, the EV3 set teaches STEM through hands-on problem solving. The STEM concept is the key element of robotics, representing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The Mindstorm EV3 Space challenge learning program was designed to assist students on their road to success.

What is the Space Challenge Mission for?

The series of classroom-tested and easily implemented lessons on space challenge mission will help students learn STEM concepts. The space challenge allows students to take responsibility for their own learning. They will work as young scientists and engineers, immersing themselves in the highly motivating STEM activities that prompt creative problem solving, communication, and teamwork.

What is special about our club?

We, the leaders of the club, aspire to share our knowledge in the many different aspects of robotics. The Robotics Club 2015-2016 will work to combine Lego, robotics and programming in order to attract junior students and share our love of Robotics.

What have we learned from it?

Through the space challenge project, we have learnt how to select a wide range of materials and components to build our unique robots. Moreover,  we are able to investigate new and emerging technologies, and understand developments in design and technology which contribute to our society. In addition, by applying our technical knowledge such as programming and problem solving skills, we have gained valuable experiences. We believe one day in the near future, we will be able to use the skills we have mastered from the project to contribute to the society.
